King of Avalon: Dominion Review - A mixed blessing

We could all have our different views on Monarchic empires. But the royal life, the secrecies, the rivalries are immensely interesting. Waking up one day to discover you’re the secret heir of a King, next up for Throne has been our long lost dream.

Catering all us daydreamers, King of Avalon: Dominion gives us the opportunity to fight for the throne. It is a real-time strategy game.  In King of Avalon: Dominion, you can use a variety of equipment, weapons and forces, including various soldiers and even the legendary dragon to deal with enemies.

The game introduces its characters through a solid storyline set in medieval England. The core of the story is the legend of King Arthur. A devoted King that stood steadfast through all battles and tribulations. The King was killed because of the betrayal of his nephew Mordred. The king’s body now rests in a fortress atop the sacred Isle of Avalon alongside the once unparalleled sword Excalibur. It is only when Excalibur has raised again that a new king again will be crowned and the kingdom will be unified.

The Kingdom after King Arthur split into cities and they began fighting amongst themselves. Everyone wants the Throne. You are in the role of one of the Knights of the famous round table. There are many enemies in this path that will destroy you and raid your resources if you are negligent. Assemble an army to become the King of Avalon. Your dragon and throne await.

Build a strong city, upgrade it and form a powerful army. You spy on your enemies and strategize the battle accordingly. The brawniest of your army is your dragon, you have to train it and send it to battles to defeat enemies with its all-consuming fire. As you progress, you attack, defend, invade your way towards the Excalibur and the mightiest Throne.

Strengths of King of Avalon: Dominion

King of Avalon: Dominion is not a game for fun. It's a head-heavy, tactical game with excellent audio and visuals. The 3D space and countless detailed images that the game creates will take you to England in crusades. It beautifully represents the tragic colours of battles and the heroic legacy of the soldiers. The visuals and animations in King of Avalon: Dominion are extremely pleasing to the eyes. The details of light, shadows, and after battle situation of the battlefield is praiseworthy.

The shift of sound effects, as well as the transition effects, increase the sense of detail in each match scene. These intricacies create an impeccable combat atmosphere in the game.

The characters in King of Avalon: Dominion are well-developed. The realistic movements, top-down views, dialogues, unique voices, and separate back story for every character keeps you involved further.

It lets you engage in multiplayer global warfare. Fight together against terrifying enemies. You can chat with thousands of players from all around the world. It also has easy-translation features to provide smooth communication. Make friends and allies from all over the world and join an epic real-time multiplayer war.

In addition, the gameplay is reasonably easy to grasp. It also offers a wide range of customisation options.

The weaknesses of King of Avalon: Dominion

The game unfortunately has more flaws than positives. It is almost impossible to find or join any alliances that are outside of your kingdom and you can’t even search for players you know exist.

It is a cash grab. If you’re not planning on spending a good amount of money, you will get pillaged over and over, undoing every bit of progress you made. The screen is littered with buttons that ask for money when you press them. It also lacks real rewards unless you spend. Every new update monetizes the game furthermore.

The game however requires a lot of Patience. The waiting hours for downloads and launching are long. If you are not investing in the game which by the way is quite compelling, you would have to wait at many stages.

The game gets stuck a lot. The screen goes black and an error message pops up. If you pause the game or leave the tab, it crashes and you have to reopen the app.

The game is glitchy most of the time and there is no stable safe environment. It allows bullying and scamming people. Though there is a block button, it doesn’t do much good. Many players have complained but only get basic machine replies and no action ever gets taken.

Many frequent players have observed cheating. Some players online use unfair means to win yet get away with it. The developers haven’t addressed this issue up till now.

Suggestions for King of Avalon: Dominion

If the developers start getting feedback and work on the issues, the game could be enhanced a lot. Makers of King of Avalon: Dominion should introduce a well-balanced microtransaction system that doesn’t let players who invest get unfair benefits over others. A better customer-feedback system would also do wonders. These glitches are driving players away. Addressing these and working on them would help King of Avalon: Dominion increase its audience exponentially.

King of Avalon: Dominion lets us taste power and victory while making friends and enemies along the way. The game undoubtedly has some frustrating setbacks but besides that, it is fun to play. Worth a try for sure.
