AxE: Alliance vs Empire Review - Fight to control the fate of the WORLD!

Introducing an exciting new MMORPG that takes you to a fantasy world of witchcraft & magic where you discover new lands to live in, exchanging your regular life for one of adventure, magic, and danger.

AxE: Alliance vs Empire allows you to join hands with thousands of players from around the world to play your part in the epic conflict between two of the most powerful factions as they fight to control the fate of the world.

For all those who've ever played an MMO game, there’s a familiarity here that they’re gonna connect to instantly. Running about fetching quests, smashing up big monsters from time to time and heading to dungeons if you’re looking for an intense adventure. There are Guilds to join, sub-quests to complete and daily challenges begging for your attention. Every action you take adds up to your stats in one way or another.

The game provides a variety of different characters to play with, depending on whether you pick the Alliance side or the Empire side. Picking any one of these categories restricts you to the characters of that specific category.

If you choose the Empire category you can be a mage, an archer, a warrior, a tank or even more. I’d suggest you pick the character that best represents your gameplay to actually have an immersive gaming experience. But in the end, it feels like more of an aesthetic choice than anything else.

The major drawback of the game is the temptation to allow the AI to take the course of the game i.e. the auto-battle feature. Although I do understand that it’s been added for the gamer's ease but it adds more to the games' disadvantage if anything at all. The auto-battle mode is a choice but let's be real here. None of us will play a game until it makes us do so!

This leaves behind a very small percentage of people who’ll actually manually play the game & get to experience the real gameplay. If one chooses to use the auto gameplay feature, then the only main role that the gamer is left with is to choose the perfect gear to make sure that your Avatar is strong enough. This takes the game away from its actual purpose of providing impressive fantasy combat.

I rather felt that from the very beginning it's kind of obvious that Alliance vs Empire doesn’t really care whether you play it or not. Now, don’t get me wrong. While the game does want us to download and enjoy it obviously but when it comes to pushing buttons it doesn’t really excite you. You can either push them if you want or let the game take its course if you don't, it's either one way or the other.

The fact of the matter is that you probably will let the game just take its course and get on with it. There’s a lot of running around to do otherwise and while the game looks really impressive graphics-wise, staring at a generic fantasy world while you sprint through it from one point to the next isn’t the most exciting way to spend your time. At least not to me!

Instead, you’re more likely to concentrate on the matter, adding new equipment, picking the quests you want to go on and ignoring the story the best you can. After some point, the story starts to feel like an unnecessary drag not gonna lie!. Alliance VS Empire is, all in all, an incredibly evolved clicker I’d say. But clicking is an option you don’t have to choose.

There are, however, many positives to the game as well. It’s stacked with content & the game pace is going to swallow your attention into the mainstream fun if you let it. Think of it as more of an RPG character management game than an MMO. It’s not so much about skill as it’s about paying attention to what your character has, what your character needs & where your character needs to go. And then enjoy the bright lights that flash up along the way.

In the end, it's a super sleek experience that might end up capturing the imagination of a bunch of people. I won't suggest you go look for new ways to combat but if you like your MMO’s hands-off, you’re probably gonna end up liking it a lot more.
