Samsung And Apple Sign A Deal For 7nm A12 Chips For Next Year's iPhone

While both companies relations may be unfriendly inside the court and all, Samsung and Apple have signed a deal in which Samsung will be manufacturing the A12 chipsets for the next year's iPhone. This will be the first time since 2013 that Samsung will be making chips for Apple ever since TSMC took up the contract.

Samsung has acquired extreme UV machines which it will be used to manufacture the chips. As a reminder, the current Apple A10 chips are made on 16nm lithography. This is all due to the successful transfer of OLED panels between Samsung and Apple.

Samsung will start the production once it receives the go ahead from Apple. One of the three co-CEOs of Samsung played an important role in this regard.
