Review: Six Guns - Mixture Of Cowboys And Zombies

Six Guns by the name, you can already expect that it will be another free to play shooter game for the mobile world but Gameloft has tried their hand at something different, something innovative to make sure that it stands out from that huge archive of games. Gameloft is more popularly known for the Asphalt series and undoubtedly, Asphalt 8 has been quite a big hit and well received by all gamers throughout the globe. But in Six Guns, They have changed their genre, Mixing action+third person shooter. But do they succeed in making a great app?

Six Guns is following the story of cowboy Buck Crosshaw, whose life is ruined by Grimreaper who kills or takes away his loved ones and his wife. Rest of his story is his in the bottom of the bottle! You control Buck, who starts off without any weapons at first but available later on in the story, You'll be taken to the nearby western town only to find more regret.

The game is built in 3rd person perspective, mixing overall regulars outlaws in the campaign as well as Zombies. The story doesn't follow any clear path, it's more built on in-game missions which you have to accomplish over time to keep you occupied and heading in the clear direction. The difficulty at first is a little bit too easy but if you run out off ammo, then you are surely toasted! The environment is built beautifully and the graphics are amazing. These are one of the things that you rarely expect from free 2 play games but Gameloft has shown no hesitation to break these barriers.

As I said the game was purely based on side missions and these mission vary a lot themselves with different rewards. Whether you are becoming a kind off Sheriff to go rescue the damsel in distress or maybe becoming king of the hill by killing zombies, it all works in the game.

The environment of the game is set in western style environment, dry soil with bushes here and there very often. The graphics of the game are quite amazing, which makes the game attractive and even more worth playing.

Downside of the game is that its pay 2 win, at times in the game when you will progress the missions will get more difficult and it'll require you to upgrade your arsenal as well. There is no clear story or if there was a clear story, it was sidelined because of the many side missions which overall make the game repetitive and thus lowering the re playability of the game.

Summing up this review I would like to say, we are seeing console quality graphics in a free to play mobile app, the attempt is great but it lacks short because of the poor following of the story and repetitive gameplay. If these 2 elements were fixed, then we would have seen an all in one package pretty similar to that of Read Dead Redemption. But all in all, This game is currently the top catch in the free to play shooter+adventure category, so if you are looking for something without the concern of any clear story but relatively good gameplay,  then put this on your wish list and get it as soon as possible.

Rating: 3/5 Stars

Bottom Line

This game is currently the top catch in the free to play shooter+adventure category, so if you are looking for something without the concern of any clear story but relatively good gameplay, then put this on your wish list and get it as soon as possible.
